Overview

Alicia Thompson joined the Firm as an Associate in March 2008. She works in the Litigation section of the Firm’s Myrtle Beach office and focuses her practice on disputes involving contractual and real property rights, commercial litigation, and corporate governance.

Much of Alicia’s practice involves advising homeowners’ associations regarding their legal rights and obligations pursuant to their restrictive covenants and bylaws. Alicia also represents multiple homeowners’ associations, board members, developers, and property management companies in litigation matters opposing members of homeowners’ associations. Alicia’s litigation experience has provided her with an in depth knowledge of non-profit organizational law, corporate law, defamation law, and the law governing board members’ and developer's fiduciary responsibilities. Several of her engagements also involve advising businesses as to their contractual rights and obligations, and representing companies in disputes, including shareholder disputes, unfair trade practice obligations, and breach of contract claims. Alicia also represents hospitality and tourism companies in collection matters, including acting as trustee in non-judicial foreclosure actions. She also represents associations in collection matters, including pre-suit demands, pursuing liens, and foreclosure matters.

After graduating from Penn State University in 2003, Alicia attended Tulane University School of Law. She also had the unique opportunity to spend a semester at Emory University Law School as a result of her displacement from New Orleans in the Fall of 2005.
